Ivoi, Paul d'

Le Rayon SF n'indique que les pré-originales dans le Journal des voyages. Il faudrait peut-être chercher du côté des journaux auxquels collaborait Paul d'Ivoi, ou demander à Jean-Luc Buard ?

Bonjour, est ce que je peux aller les yeux fermés sur ebooksgratuits pour télécharger les Voyages des Paul d'Ivoi ?

Le texte est il complet ? ou faut il mieux que j'achète les Taillandier ?

Mais j'étais surtout aussi en train de me demander si ces voyages sont vraiment représentatifs du style d'Ivoi parceque je relisai la critique de lekarr pour diane de l'archipel "Ce roman fait partie de la série des « Voyages excentriques » que Paul d’Ivoi à conçue afin de surfer sur la vague des « Voyages extraordinaires » de Jules Verne. Mais on s’aperçoit vite que l’on est loin des œuvres du maître en matière d’imaginaire déployé et de sens du récit.

Quels livres donc me conseillez vous d'Ivoi ?

Il me semble bien qu'Ebooksgratuits est fiable (voir les messages que CoolMicro avait laissés sur ce forum). Mais si tu y vas les yeux fermés, tu risques de ne plus rien y voir du tout!   
Quant à savoir si d'Ivoi est intéressant ou non, le mieux est que tu te fasses une idée par toi-même, sans suivre l'avis d'un quelconque maître à penser. Pour te guider dans ton choix, tu peux néanmoins consulter l'article de Marie PALEWSKA : « De l’extraordinaire à l’excentrique : Paul Charles Philippe Eric Deleutre, dit Paul d’Ivoi », paru dans Le Rocambole n° 32 (automne 2005), p. 33–69.

Je n'en sais rien, je ne suis pas un grand connaisseur de son oeuvre.
En dehors des Voyages, il y a aussi les romans patriotiques écrits en collaboration avec le colonel Royet.

Sorry for writing in English, but I think that maybe you would be interested to know that in late 1920s and in the beginning of 1930s in former Yugoslavia, in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) several Paul d'Ivoi's novels from Taillandier edition were translated to Serbocroatian and published. Since it is not easy to find them even in Belgrade in National library, so far I have managed to identify several novels. BTW, in total 50 novels from Tallandier edition were published (our covers match the original covers).

This is very interesting. Can you show us one or two covers of these books? Are there other authors published by Tallandier who were published in Yugoslavia (I am thinking in particular of Louis Boussenard, but there may be others)? Any further information will be welcome.

All books in that edition were from Tallandier, as far as I can tell. Edition was called „Narodna Biblioteka“ (Public Library). Publisher was called „Male Novine“ (Small Press). I have 32 books out of total 50 books, published from 1928 until 1932. Most of the time they were published every 15 days, but there were some delays. As I said, this was real pulp fiction, so most of the books that I have are in pretty bad condition, except those that some good soul put in hard cover, keeping original picture on the front. I’ve tried to check translations and they are not the best ones, particularly when some technical issues are concerned. For example, I’ve checked Paul d’Ivoi’s book Le Bolide de Lavarède where in original there are drawings of air ship, and in translation there are none.

Regarding Louis Boussenard, I’ve found four novels by him:

No. 12 is probably Le sultan de Bornéo, and translation in English of No.38 is Bengal Stranglers – no idea what it could be.

This is very interesting! I'll have to check the d'Ivoi and Boussenard bibliographies if these translations are known. Although, as I am leaving tomorrow, this will have to wait a few weeks-but I'l do it, otherwise please remind me to do so.
As for "Bengalski davitelji", this is simply the translation of "Les étrangleurs du Bengale" (also known as "Sans-le-Sou chez les fakirs", Bibliothèque des grandes aventures n°149, 1927).
